Hey there! Happy almost-weekend, and happy Sweat Date! I’m feeling really strong today, so let’s hit the gym for our workout.
So how has your week been? Mine has been busy, but also relatively productive. Some days better than others, but overall, I’m getting things done and staying mostly on track. How about you? I think I’m most proud of the writing I’ve gotten done this week. I’m trying to be more active with it, and I got a few things out there that I’m really happy with. It’s funny; writing isn’t really that different than exercise or sports – you have to practice to get better at it. And you also just have to show up, sit down and do it. Well…I hope you’re not sitting during exercise, but you get my point. Stay tuned for some really good stuff happening on the website and blog very soon!
How did your workouts go last week? I am two-thirds of the way through my 12-week program, and I’m pumped. I am seeing good results, feeling great, and continuing to be motivated by the whole program. It’s absolutely crazy how much having a specifically designed program can change your workout world. Highly recommended. It has definitely changed the way I work out knowing exactly what I’m going to do each day I walk into the gym. Seeing the weights and movements progress, as well as the changes in my body. It’s a big reason why I love doing the Accomplished Online Challenge, and why I love providing Online Personal Training even more. Seeing my clients have success rocks my world!
And speaking of rocking my world, ummm, these.
They are basically my new favorite thing in life. I am a big music lover, and holy cow, new headphones make a huge difference! 1) I can really block out the crazies at the gym. 2) The sound quality is out-of-this-world. 3) Better sound quality=better workout quality. (I think that’s science.) Of course, I had to revisit my workout playlist, adding and subtracting a few things to get the most out of my new ‘phones. Here are a few of my favorites as of late:
- Lovers on the Sun (featuring Sam Martin) – David Guetta
- Mama Mia (Radio Edit) – Maya Veronica
- GDFR (featuring Sage the Gemini & Lookas) – FloRida
- Through the Night (Radio Edit, featuring Coco) – Cedric Gervais
- The Party Line – Belle And Sebastian
- 40 Watt – ELEL
- Slow Ride – Kenny Wayne Shepherd
- Legs – ZZ Top
- Groove Is In the Heart – Deee-Lite
If you’re in the market for a new set, I definitely recommend these. They’re the Bose SoundTrue around-ear headphones, and you can buy them here.
OK, so back to workouts, part of mine has been to finish up my workout with some band work. I love mini-bands. I have loved mini-bands for years, actually. One of the most basic, and incredibly effective, exercises with this awesome piece of equipment is a Lateral Band Walk. When you’ve finished your workout and your glutes and legs are already toast, doing two sets of these is basically a finisher. And not only is this a great exercise to get a good glute burn, it’s also very functional, as it strengthens the deeper muscles of the hips. It’s a great exercise for runners (who typically have weak hips and glute medius muscles), as well as people who spend a lot of time sitting. Check out the quick video for a demo, and think about adding this one. You can get a mini-band for just a few bucks here or here.
Alright, I’m wiped after all that! Such a great workout, and always good to catch up. See you for next week’s #SweatDate!
